Football continues losing streak

FOOTBALL CONTINUES LOSING STREAK

The Eagles took another loss, this time to Hutchinson. The final score was 35-7. Sophomore Brayden Payne, Maize’s new starting quarterback, made the one and only touchdown of the night. “We started off really bad,” Payne said. “We couldn’t get anything going and we went out really slow. Defense didn’t have the best night. Every once in awhile they’d make a stop and we wouldn’t capitalize off of it. We just couldn’t win the game. We had dropped balls, bad throws and bad blocking. Every time we’d do one thing right, we’d do another thing wrong.” Payne is looking ahead to this week’s game and considering what could be done to improve. “I just want to get a drive going and take it one play at a time,” Payne said. The Eagles will play Newton at 7 p.m. this Friday at home.
