GREEN HOPE NAMES FIRST SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Green Hope will have four members in its inaugural sports hall of fame class, the school announced Monday. They are Hector Cotto (Class of 2002), Chris Brady Wolfe (2003), Brendon Todd (2003) and Don D’Ambrosi (volunteer). Cotto was a record-setting track athlete, who went on to compete for Puerto Rico’s national team in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Wolfe (Brady in high school) was the first female individual state champ, winning the 2000 NCHSAA 4A girls’ golf championship. She played on the LPGA Tour for a few years. Todd was one of the best NCHSAA golfers ever, winning three individual 4A titles. He now plays on the PGA Tour. D’Ambrosi was the school’s volunteer public address announcer for every home football and boys’ and girls’ basketball game for more than 10 years. He retired in 2013. This year’s class will be formally introduced at halftime of a home football game this fall. Read more here:
