NEW COVENANT CHRISTIAN WINS PROGRAM'S FIRST D
New Covenant Christian certainly didn't play like a team making its first District 3 playoff appearance.
The Flames started hot and burned through High Point Baptist 52-40 Tuesday night in a District 3-A first-round contest at Lebanon Catholic High School.
Cody Snyder scored half of his game-high 16 points in the first quarter, as No. 8 New Covenant built leads of 19-8 after one and 33-17 by halftime.
Next up is CCAC West rival West Shore Christian, which hosts the Flames in Friday's quarterfinals.
Dawson Copenhaver and C.J. Kornhaus added 15 and 14 points, respectively, for first-year coach Jon Klohr's club.
Tim Arcuri and Ted Dougherty shared 25 for the No. 9 Eagles (10-11).
