FALCONS BOUNCE CARDINALS
Bishop Ireton used "small ball" to grab a 2-0 lead early in their game with Good Counsel, but it was the Falcons that used "long ball" to rally late to pound out a 14-2 WCAC softball win at Luckett Field in Alexandria Monday.
The Cardinals wiggled out of a jam in the top of the third, allowing a run but stranding a pair. They loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning, but couldn't push a run home.
The visitors then unloaded with line drives and exploited Cardinal miscues and quickly jumped to a 9-2 after 5 innings.
Bishop Ireton returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Oakton to take on VISAA rival Flint Hill School. First pitch is 4:15.
